Adults Jiu-Jitsu Program

GI and No-GI training for all levels in Regina, SK

Train Both GI and No-GI
Jiu-Jitsu

The Expedition BJJ adults program is built for anyone who wants to learn real Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu — whether you have never set foot on a mat before or you've been training for years. We run structured classes six days a week covering both GI and No-GI formats so you develop a complete, well-rounded game.

Every class is coached by high-level belt holders who focus on technical precision, safe training habits, and progressive skill development. We don't just drill — we explain the why behind each position so you build understanding, not just muscle memory.

GI Jiu-Jitsu Traditional training in the kimono. Master grip fighting, collar chokes, lapel guards, and tight technical groundwork that rewards patience and leverage over size and strength.
No-GI Jiu-Jitsu Faster-paced submission grappling without the kimono. Wrestling-based takedowns, leg locks, body triangles, and dynamic scrambles. The format used in modern grappling competitions.
Beginners Classes Dedicated beginner classes are specifically designed for people with zero experience. Slower pace, foundational positions, and a safe environment where no question is a bad question.
Sparring Sessions Live rolling after every regular class. Optional and pressure-free for beginners. When you're ready, sparring is where your technique gets tested and your game truly develops.
Competition Preparation For students who want to compete, we provide strategic game planning, competition-specific drilling, and experience-based coaching to prepare you to step on the mat with confidence.
Self-Defense Applications Real-world scenarios integrated into training. Learn how to control a situation on the ground, create distance, and protect yourself — not just in sport, but in life.

What You'll Gain

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu delivers benefits that go far beyond the mat

Fitness

Full-body conditioning that doesn't feel like a workout. Build strength, endurance, flexibility, and coordination — all while learning a skill that lasts a lifetime.

Self-Defense

The most effective ground-based self-defense system in the world. Learn to control, neutralize threats, and protect yourself in real situations.

Mental Toughness

Stay calm under pressure, problem-solve in real time, and push through discomfort. BJJ trains your mind as much as your body.

Community

Lifelong friendships start on the mat. A welcoming, ego-free environment where everyone pushes each other to get better every day.

Competition

When you're ready to test your skills, we'll prepare you. Local and regional tournaments give you a goal to train toward.

Stress Relief

One hour on the mat clears your head like nothing else. Leave every class feeling reset, lighter, and better than when you walked in.

FAQ for New Students

Everything beginners want to know before their first class

Do I need to be in shape to start?

No. We accept you at whatever fitness level you are at right now. BJJ itself will get you in shape. Most beginners are surprised by how quickly their conditioning improves just from showing up consistently. You do not need to run miles or lift weights before walking in the door — just show up.

What should I wear to my first class?

Athletic clothes — board shorts and a rash guard or a fitted t-shirt — work perfectly for No-GI classes. For GI classes you will need a BJJ GI (kimono), but do not worry about buying one for your trial class. We can sort you out. Arrive clean, trim your nails, and remove any jewellery before stepping on the mat.

Will I get hurt?

Safety is our first priority. Beginners classes are controlled, technique-focused environments where no one is trying to hurt anyone. Our instructors teach you how to tap early and how to be a safe training partner from day one. Like any physical activity there is always some risk, but the culture at Expedition BJJ is one of mutual respect — we train hard and we train safe.

What if I've never done any martial arts?

Most of our students started with zero experience — that is exactly who our beginners classes are designed for. You will learn the basics from the ground up: how to fall safely, fundamental positions, escapes, and your first submissions. Experience in wrestling, judo, or other grappling arts helps, but it is absolutely not required.

Do I need to buy a GI right away?

No. Try a few classes first. We want you to be certain this is the right place for you before you spend money on equipment. For your first visit, athletic shorts and a t-shirt are fine for any class. Once you decide to commit, we can point you toward quality GIs that won't break the bank.
