Outdoor Adventures Program
Take your training beyond the mats and into the Saskatchewan outdoors
Training Without Walls
At Expedition BJJ, we believe real fitness goes beyond the gym floor. Our Outdoor Adventures program takes the discipline and conditioning of martial arts and combines it with the raw challenge of Saskatchewan's natural landscapes — because the strongest athletes train everywhere.
Whether it's a trail run followed by bodyweight circuits, hill sprints on a cold Prairie morning, or team challenges that demand trust and communication, every outdoor session is designed to make you harder to beat on the mats and in life.
Suitable for all fitness levels with modifications always available. If you train with us inside, you're ready to train with us outside.
The Benefits of Outdoor Training
More than just a workout — a complete shift in how you train and how you think
Fresh Air Training
Break out of four walls and train in the open air. Uneven terrain, changing weather, and natural resistance build fitness you can't replicate inside a gym.
Mental Resilience
Choosing to train when it's hard — cold, muddy, or exhausting — builds mental toughness that carries directly onto the mats. Grit is a skill. We train it here.
Team Bonding
Shared struggle builds unbreakable trust. Pushing through challenges side by side with training partners creates bonds that translate into tighter teamwork on the mats.
Functional Fitness
Real-world strength and conditioning that transfers directly to your jiu-jitsu. Carries, crawls, sprints, and explosive movements build athleticism that matters when grappling.
Stress Relief
Nature combined with physical exertion is one of the most effective ways to decompress. Leave feeling reset — not just tired. Your body and mind both benefit.
Adventure
Explore the parks, trails, and open spaces around Regina while pushing your limits. Every session is different. This is fitness that doesn't feel like a chore.
What to Expect
Everything you need to know before showing up for your first outdoor session
Show Up Ready to Work
Sessions run approximately 60–90 minutes and combine a dynamic warm-up, a conditioning block — trail work, bodyweight circuits, or team challenges — and a cool-down. Structure varies by season and location.
Every session is coached and designed to be approachable for all fitness levels. You go at your own pace. Modifications are always available. No one gets left behind.
Outdoor Adventures runs on seasonal programming throughout the year to take advantage of what Saskatchewan has to offer in every season. Specific dates, times, and meeting locations are announced through the academy. Reach out or ask at the gym for the current outdoor schedule.

Common Questions
Do I need to be a current member to join?
Outdoor Adventures is designed as a complement to your regular training at Expedition BJJ. It is primarily available to current academy members. If you're not a member yet, your free trial class is the perfect place to start — reach out on the contact page to get started.
What if it rains or the weather is bad?
Saskatchewan weather is part of the training. Sessions run in most conditions — rain, wind, and cooler temperatures are all part of the outdoor experience. In cases of extreme weather or unsafe conditions, sessions may be modified or rescheduled. You'll always be notified in advance.
What fitness level is required?
All fitness levels are welcome. Sessions are coached and every exercise has modifications available. You train at your own intensity — pushing your personal limits is the goal, not keeping up with anyone else. If you can attend a regular class at the academy, you're ready for an outdoor session.
How do I find out when the next session is?
Outdoor Adventures runs on seasonal programming. Session dates, times, and meeting locations are communicated through the academy. Ask your coach, check in at the gym, or reach out through our contact page and we'll add you to the notification list.
